We are off the air whenever Iowa Central is closed. Meaning summer time we are not on the air along with holiday breaks. With the potential of streaming we may be on 24/7. Maybe.

It’s real easy, repeat after me:
Eighty eight one the point!
See that wasn’t so bad was it?!
What does it mean to be “student run”?
All of the daily operations of the station are run by the students. We have a General Manager, Production Director, Sports Director, PSA/News Director, Music Director, and a Promotions/sales director. A student usually gets these positions during their second year of being at 88.1 The Point. It isn’t totally unheard of to get a staff position as a second semester freshman as long as you show that you are responsible and have a good work ethic!
Can anyone be on 88.1 The Point?
Yes and no. To be an on air talent for 88.1 The Point you need to be enrolled in the Media Practices class at Iowa Central Community College. While in that class you will go through 20 hours of shadowing. This means you will watch and learn how to be an on air talent for 88.1 The Point. Once your hours are complete you can test out. Or you can join the broadcasting program at Iowa Central Community College.
